Solstice In Restigouche

WHAT BETTER WAY TO CELEBRATE

There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of soup with a view of the Restigouche River . .

Restigouche held their first ever Soup Fest on Monday, March 19, at the Campbellton Curling Club. Thank you to Joanne Currie, initiator, organizer, cookie of sooo many things including soup, bread and a variety of homemade cookies. She was joined by quite a good number of retirees who made soup, bread and fudge, helped with the setup, warmed up soup and carried out duties in the kitchen. Many steps were made up and down stairs from the kitchen to the dining area!! And let’s not forget the clean up. I saw elbows disappearing into large pots in hot soapy water and was impressed by those who skillfully loaded the commercial dishwasher. A most talented group!! Thanks also to the Curling Club for allowing us to use their facility.

With bellies seemingly full, everyone participated in the “mixers” of enjoyable games.  The concentration and laughter must have helped to settle the stomach, at least enough to allow for the consumption of just a few more cookies.  Many left with soup, bread and cookies to enjoy the next day.

Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. Always a good time when sharing food and laughter with fellow retirees.

Group Insurance Rates for 2026The New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers (NBSRT), on behalf of the NBTF Group Insurance Trustees, is forwarding the 2026 Group Insurance Renewal Rates directly to its members to ensure that everyone has timely access to this important information. Although the NBTF Group Insurance Trustees have already mailed a communiqué outlining the updated rates, the ongoing rotating postal strikes across the province may mean that delivery cannot be guaranteed before the new rates take effect with the December 24th pension deposit. Because many members rely on this information to understand and plan for changes to their monthly deductions, NBSRT felt it was essential to provide an additional, reliable method of communication. By circulating the rates through our own channels, we aim to prevent delays, reduce uncertainty, and ensure that all members—regardless of postal service disruptions—receive clear, accurate details about the upcoming adjustments. This proactive approach reflects NBSRT’s commitment to keeping members well-informedCheck your email for this information. This information is already available in the MEMBERS ONLY – GROUP INSURANCE section of our website ...
