The 50th Anniversary AGM social evening was a lively celebration full of fun, laughter, and unexpected delights.
Myra Mitchie and Francis Peabody brought the spirit of Miramichi to life, leading the crowd in a spirited folksong about Marilyn Monroe and “flydope”. The performance was followed by a traditional Miramichi “libation” ceremony, as guests from away were warmly inducted as Honourary Miramichiers.
Adding to the excitement, Lois Gilliss — the evening’s very own “Vanna White of the Miramichi” — hosted a thrilling trivia contest. In a generous twist, she crowned not one, but two winning teams.
For the next two and a half hours, the dance floor stayed packed as Don Arseneau kept the energy high with his irresistible tunes. As one guest joked, “If you didn’t get up and dance to this act, you must be in a body cast!” It was truly a night to remember.
