Kings Member Honored
KCRTA member, STEPHEN WILSON, and the third Kings Branch Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal recipient, was recognized for his volunteerism as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the 8th Hussars Museum in Sussex.
Stephen was invited to be on the board after providing innovative learning experiences for his students at Belleisle Regional High School. Each year, from 2008 until his retirement in 2016, his grade 11 and 12 students wrote biographies and created videos honoring the lives of soldiers who died while serving in World Wars I and II.
Since retirement, Stephen has been raising awareness about the museum in the community. He works with summer students to continue research on 8th Hussar soldiers, develop new exhibits, and keep local tourism operators informed about what the museum has to offer.
One of the exhibits Stephen produced features Hampton resident Major Howard Keirstead:

His work with Sussex High School students resulted in student created decorative banners (pictured on the right) that hang on the museum’s exterior windows. They brighten up the exterior of the museum, promote it, and let passers by know what the museum is about.
Stephen managed to do all this in spite of the limitations imposed during pandemic lockdowns over the past couple of years.
