Happy Birthday

Eileen O’Toole – Happy 104th

Born in English Settlement on February 4, 1920, Eileen Toole had a lengthy career as a devoted teacher and upon retirement, a devoted GMART member.  Upon graduating from the Provincial Normal School in 1939, Eileen took a teaching position at Smith Corner.  Shortly thereafter, she found her way to Calhoun and ultimately to Sunny Brae School.  A caring mother, Eileen took a break from teaching when her daughter Carolyn was born but returned to teaching at Calhoun and then once again to Sunny Brae School where she taught mainly Math and English.  Along the way, she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree.

After retiring in 1981, Eileen became very active in the Moncton Society of Retired Teachers.  She was involved with the Calling Committee and the GMART 25th Anniversary Organizing Committee in 1996 and served as GMART President, 1983 – 1985.

Over the years, Eileen has shown her talent as an artist and a musician.  A lifelong learner and teacher, Eileen exemplifies the true meaning of the word “Education”.  GMART joins Eileen’s family and friends in sending her Best Wishes on the occasion of her 104th birthday.

Group Insurance Rates for 2026The New Brunswick Society of Retired Teachers (NBSRT), on behalf of the NBTF Group Insurance Trustees, is forwarding the 2026 Group Insurance Renewal Rates directly to its members to ensure that everyone has timely access to this important information. Although the NBTF Group Insurance Trustees have already mailed a communiqué outlining the updated rates, the ongoing rotating postal strikes across the province may mean that delivery cannot be guaranteed before the new rates take effect with the December 24th pension deposit. Because many members rely on this information to understand and plan for changes to their monthly deductions, NBSRT felt it was essential to provide an additional, reliable method of communication. By circulating the rates through our own channels, we aim to prevent delays, reduce uncertainty, and ensure that all members—regardless of postal service disruptions—receive clear, accurate details about the upcoming adjustments. This proactive approach reflects NBSRT’s commitment to keeping members well-informedCheck your email for this information. This information is already available in the MEMBERS ONLY – GROUP INSURANCE section of our website ...
