A Better Website Experience for NBSRT Members

The NBSRT website has updated from DIVI 4 to DIVI 5 as part of our ongoing effort to keep the website modern, reliable, and easy to use.

The NBSRT website has become an important resource for retired teachers across New Brunswick. Members use it to find information about NBSRT activities, branch news, events, pensions, membership, wellness, scholarships, online safety, and much more.

This latest technology upgrade is designed to provide a stronger foundation for the website while allowing us to continue improving the way information is presented and accessed.

What Is DIVI?

DIVI is the WordPress website-building platform used to create and manage much of the visual design of the NBSRT website.

The move from DIVI 4 to DIVI 5 represents a significant technology upgrade. Rather than simply changing the appearance of the website, the upgrade provides a more modern foundation for future improvements.

Why Are We Making the Change?

Technology changes quickly. Websites that worked well several years ago need to evolve to remain compatible with current browsers, devices, WordPress, and web standards.

Moving to DIVI 5 gives the NBSRT website a better foundation for:

• Improved performance and more efficient page building
• Greater design flexibility for future website improvements
• Better compatibility with modern WordPress technology
• A more streamlined editing experience for website administrators
• Continued development of features and resources for NBSRT members

What Will Members Notice?

For most members, the transition should be relatively seamless.

The goal is not to dramatically change the information you are accustomed to finding on the NBSRT website. Instead, we are improving the technology behind the scenes so that the site can continue to serve members effectively.

As the upgrade progresses, you may notice some small changes in the appearance or layout of individual pages. These changes are part of the process of making the website more consistent, responsive, and easier to maintain.

Over time some of the pages will be updated to use the features of the New technology. The website will continue to provide the information that members rely on, including news, events, branch information, membership resources, pension information, wellness resources, and online safety information.

A Website That Can Grow With NBSRT

The NBSRT website has already gone through several generations of technology. Its history reflects how dramatically online communication has changed over the years.

The first NBSRT provincial website was launched in February 2006, following the creation of a provincial website committee in 2005. A second-generation website was launched in September 2012 as technology and member expectations continued to evolve.

Today's DIVI 5 upgrade is another step in that continuing evolution.

The objective is simple: keep the NBSRT website useful, accessible, current, and ready for the future.

Website upgrades can involve a considerable amount of behind-the-scenes work. Pages, menus, images, forms, links, and other components need to be checked and tested as the new system is introduced.
