Wally & Wanda Travels

These two country music star hopefuls were in Nashville recently touring all of the big record companies. Rumors have it that their first release will be country-rap with the good-looking one singing lead and the slightly less handsome star-to-be doing the back-up vocals.

Wally has been holding out on us. He has one more trip to share with his travel-mates Jocelyne and Anne.

WALLY’S LAST TRIP – TO ITALY!

Joy Hanson, shared these photos of Wally and herself on a fantastic trip to Italy.  Wally even participated and completed the infamous Camino Walk with Joy.  Wally and Wanda have recently retired from travel adventures with our NBSRT members.  What great adventures.  You are invited to look for the photos of Larry the Lobster who will be appearing at various branch events over the next few months.

Norm Delano and his wife, Sue, have returned with ‘Wally’ to New Brunswick from an excellent adventure that included stops in Dublin, Killarney, Kenore, Portugal, Lagos and Lisbon.  This fantastic trip ends the adventure initiative seeing Wally and Wanda travel around the globe with our NBSRT members.

Wally Visits Ireland

Wally and Ann Kennedy visited Ireland this past year.  Touring two of Dublin’s institutions: Kilmainham Gaol – where prisoners from the Easter Rising (1916) and the Irish Rebellion (1922-23).  It was cold and rather morbid but Wally and Ann held their own.  To celebrate their strength visiting these spots, they headed to the Guinness Establishment to have a pint.  Guinness, a world renown product, enjoyed by Irish and pretend Irish.  Hanging out in Ann’s purse, Wally climbed the steps in the O’Brien Tower at the Cliffs of Moher.  A ferry ride to the Isle of Inishmore followed.  The ride was turbulent, causing both of us to become a bit sea sick.  While on the island Ann and Wally walked through fields crawling over rock walls built hundreds of years ago.  The morning they left the island to return to Dublin, Wally slept in while Ann caught the sunrise casting a warm hue on the beautiful Kilmurvy House where they stayed for two weeks.  Another successful adventure for Wally with our NBSRT members.

Wally’s Trip To The UK – Plus a Cruise

Wally accompanied John Irvine and his wife on an extensive trip, leaving Woodstock to Toronto, then off to tour London, England.  During this leg of the trip, Wally visited Big Ben, Victoria Coach Station and various landmarks.  Leaving South Hampton, Wally on the ‘Sky Princess’ cruise ship advanced to the Port of Cherbourg, France.  Check out the piazza on the ship and his luxurious room.  What is next?  Porta Delgada and Fort Lauderdale to await the trip home to New Brunswick.

Wally’s Trip To Quebec City

Wally, along with 50 seniors, jumped onto the tour bus recently, leaving Fredericton with a stop in Hartland to tour the ‘Covered Bridge Chip Factory’ and Edmundston for a late lunch before arriving in Quebec City.  The purpose of the trip was to attend the annual Christmas Market held in the Old Section of Quebec City, and staying at the Frontenac Hotel, an historic building standing high over the majestic city.  Weathering the cold and one day of snowy weather, Wally enjoyed the market, a guided tour of the area and of course, some good food and drink.  What an excellent way to get into the Christmas spirit.  Returning to Fredericton after four days of checking out a beautiful part of Canada and relaxing along the way made it seem as if it wasn’t such a long trip overall.  Wally is looking forward to another great adventure in the near future.

Wally’s Bermuda Cruise

Wally is just back from a visit to New York City and a Bermuda cruise, and he’s saying “You just have to see my pics”. Take a look and be sure to tell him what you think of his photos in the COMMENT box below.

Wally’s Halifax Trip

Wally toured downtown Halifax and had lunch at the “Narrows Public House”. The pub sounds like it’s worth a visit – see the descriptive comment below.

Wally Travels To British Columbia

Here are a few photos from Wally’s trip to British Columbia. Be sure to read his comments at the bottom:

My beary interesting journey from Charters Settlement, NB, to Kelowna, BC, ( September 16th – 30th, 2022) with Betty Smith was quite an adventure! My first flight was very interesting! I enjoyed having my picture taken in the Fredericton airport and checking the boarding passes! I wasn’t hungry on the plane so I passed on the snack! I could see all kinds of planes before we took off for Toronto, Ontario. That was a busy spot for sure and we had to run to catch the connecting flight to Calgary! Finally another plane took us to Kelowna! Judy Wilks was waiting for us…oops! No luggage! Thankfully no worries for me! The bed felt sooooo good! I had lots of interesting adventures almost every day!! ! The quails were interesting creatures… didn’t try the beverages but heard they were tasty!! The Farmer’s Market was a busy place…and in the Mall nearby there was an ice cream stand…their cones matched my colour (almost)! On other walks, my picture was taken taken in nearby parks “ Warning” about bears in this area!! Imagine that!! I enjoyed helping the the girls get their laundry done! The clothes pins were a challenge for sure! I liked visiting the many parks and waterfalls! I noticed an interesting licence plate too! Judy was putting out some seasonal decorations so I couldn’t resist posing with them! All too soon I was back on the plane heading for “ home”! A gal on the plane wanted a picture of me with her “ travel buddy”…Now to rest up for my next journey! Signed – Wally

Wally was recently in Halifax for the weekend. Wally wants to note that he visited a great new restaurant called ‘The Narrows’. Check it out if you are travelling in that area. You will be pleasantly surprised by the character of the building, the unique rooms to share a great meal and converse with family and friends.
