From Constitutions to Cranberry Sauce

A Day To Remember

The Restigouche Society of Retired Teachers held its Semi-annual General Meeting (SAGM) on November 6, 2025 in the east end of the branch at the Legion in Jacquet River

Most significant at this meeting was the final vote on the first constitution of the Branch.  This project was spearheaded by Joanne Currie who brought her experience as a lawyer to bear and was so very helpful to the ad hoc committee with her leadership and knowledge.

After confirming the acceptance of the constitution, the Branch bestowed its first Honorary Life Membership to former President, Jamie Daye, who served in that capacity for 14 years.

The meeting was followed by “the famous turkey dinner” complete with all the “fixins.”  Dinner was cooked, prepared and served by the ladies of the Legion.  It seems that aside from the importance of the constitution, it is actually the dinner that boosts the size of attendance.
